Womens Recovery

Be the Hope That Changes Lives

Every day across Australia, women are taking courageous steps to rebuild their lives after experiencing domestic abuse and trauma. By creating your own fundraiser for the Women's Resilience Centre, you become an essential part of their recovery journey.

The funds you raise go directly to supporting our comprehensive trauma-sensitive and person-centered programs that empower women to rebuild their lives after domestic abuse and trauma. Your efforts help provide the long-term support to women who never access formal services - desperately need.

By organising a fundraising event, you become an essential part of our mission to provide safety, belonging, and a pathway to independence for survivors. Your fundraising efforts help provide personalised Recovery Assessment Sessions, crucial counselling with trauma-informed Client Care Managers, essential Recovery Resource Packs, year-round capability-building programs, our needs-based Emergence Program, mentoring connections with women who have walked similar paths, and sustainable pathways to independence through skills development.

Ways to Fundraise

There are countless ways you can make a difference through fundraising:

  • Host a Morning Tea - Gather friends, family or colleagues for a morning of connection and purpose, unique challenge or cultural experience

  • Dedicate Your Birthday - Ask for donations instead of gifts and make your celebration meaningful

  • Challenge Yourself - Join an organised event like City2Surf, Beach2Beach, or the Cole Classic swim

  • Create Your Own Event - Plan a trivia night, art auction, or any activity that reflects your passions

  • Workplace Giving - Engage your colleagues in team challenges or matched giving initiatives

Be the Hope That Breaks The Cycle

  • PERSONAL AND PHYSICAL CHALLENGES

Transform your run, swim, cycle, hike or fitness challenge into hope for women recovering from domestic abuse. Consider events like City2Surf, Sydney Running Festival, Sydney Morning Herald Half Marathon, The Sun Run, Bay Run, Sydney Harbour 10k, Cole Classic, Rottnest Channel Swim, Sydney Harbour Splash, Sydney Tower Stair Challenge, The Gong Ride, Spring Cycle, Run Larapinta Stage Race, trail walks, coastal hikes, mountain treks, or the Beach2Beach Charity Fun Run and Festival for inspiration. Running Calendar Australia is a comprehensive list of running events, fun runs and walks, triathlon, multisport and adventure race events throughout Australia. These events gather participants for a cause, combining fitness, cultural experiences and fun whilst raising awareness and funds. Get creative with personal challenges like giving up coffee for a month, growing a beard, shaving your head, walking 10,000 steps daily, or climbing a mountain. Every step, stroke, or personal sacrifice provides direct support for women rebuilding their lives after trauma.

  • COMMUNITY FUNDRAISERS

Host a WRC CommuniTEA morning tea, gala dinner, trivia night, book club fundraiser, or craft market. Engage your workplace with casual dress days, office challenges, or matched giving programs. Rally your school with read-a-thons, mufti days, or talent shows. Get your sports club involved through charity matches, tournaments, or sponsored events. Community clubs can organise sausage sizzles, raffles, or special fundraising nights. "Donate Your Day" by asking for donations instead of birthday gifts. Gather a group of friends and colleagues for a unique challenge or cultural experience. Your community effort transforms lives by supporting women on their journey from crisis to confidence.

  • IN LOVING MEMORY

Honour a special person's legacy by creating a memorial fundraiser that transforms grief into hope. Memorial donations can be requested in lieu of flowers at funerals, established on significant anniversaries, or created as ongoing scholarships in a loved one's name. These tributes create a powerful legacy that helps women move from surviving to thriving; offering safety, belonging, and a pathway to independence that creates positive change for generations to come.
