1. Introduction

The Women’s Resilience Centre (WRC) is committed to protecting the privacy of our donors, supporters, volunteers, and program participants. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and disclose personal information in compliance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

2. Collection of Personal Information

We collect personal information that is reasonably necessary for our activities, including fundraising, advocacy, and program delivery. We may collect personal information directly from individuals, or from third parties, such as other organisations, government bodies, or publicly available sources. The types of personal information we may collect include, but are not limited to:

  • Name, address, and contact details (e.g., phone number, email address)

  • State or Country

  • Donation history and payment information

  • Volunteering history and skills

  • Program delivery preferences and feedback

  • Advocacy activities and interests

  • Employment and education history

We will only collect sensitive information with consent, or, where permitted by law.

3. Use and Disclosure of Personal Information

We use personal information to carry out our activities, as well as to communicate with donors, supporters, volunteers, and program participants about our work, events, and opportunities. We may also use personal information for research and analysis purposes, to improve our programs and fundraising efforts.

We may disclose personal information to third parties, including service providers, such as payment processors and mailing houses, who assist us in our activities, (e.g., emergency, medical, legal, financial, mentoring). We may also disclose personal information to government bodies, where required by law, or to other organisations, with consent or where necessary to carry out our activities.

4. Data Security and Retention

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure. We use secure servers, firewalls, encryption, and other measures to protect personal information. We also ensure that our staff and contractors are trained in data protection and privacy.

We will retain personal information for as long as necessary to carry out our activities and to comply with legal obligations. When we no longer need personal information, we will securely destroy or de-identify it.

5. Access and Correction of Personal Information

Individuals have the right to access and correct their personal information held by us, subject to some exceptions allowed by law. Requests for access or correction should be made in writing to the Privacy Officer, using the contact details provided below.

If individuals have any complaints or feedback about our privacy practices, they should contact the Privacy Officer in writing, using the contact details provided below. We take all complaints and feedback seriously and will respond within a reasonable timeframe.
